This old Medieval town, named after the 8th century church of Sveti Lovre, lies in Istria's interior and in the vicinity of its famous tourist center Porec. This picturesque town with many historic buildings has been inhabited since prehistoric times, while the town plan and walls date back to the 9th century. In the Early Renaissance, Sveti Lovrec was a military town and center of the military commander for southern Istria, therefore, besides sacral buildings, Lovrec has military buildings as well. Thanks to its architectural heritage and favorable position, Sveti Lovrec is ideal for guests who would like to get to know the traditions and customs of the place they are visiting. Sveti Lovrec is a great starting point for trips to historic Istrian towns.
