Plomin is a small, old fortified town on Istria's southeastern coast, in the vicinity of the town of Labin. Plomin lies on an 80 meter high hill that drops steeply into the bay of Plomin. Plomin has some 130 inhabitants and has been inhabited since ancient times. In the Middle Ages, churches and chapels were built on ruins of ancient Roman buildings, that date back to times when Plomin was a municipal center. The beautiful nature and tranquility of the place draw many visitors. The Plomin belvedere offers a splendid view of the entire bay of Kvarner, as well as of the islands of Cres and Losinj. We recommend Plomin to those who like history laden towns in which evidence of past times can still be seen.
We recommend: Labin - the best preserved fortified Medieval town in Istria / Rijeka / Barban / "konobe" (traditional restaurants) in Istria's interior
How to get there: 14 km northeast of Labin on the main road Pula - Rijeka |
