| | Maranovici (island of Mljet)
| | | Maranovici is situated on the southeastern part of the island of Mljet, proclaimed a National Park due to its beautiful landscapes and unique features. Mljet is connected to the mainland by the scheduled boat line (Rijeka - Sobra, Dubrovnik - Sobra). The old settlement lies 2 km from the sea in a fertile part of the island and has some 60 inhabitants, while private houses with rooms and apartments have been built close to the sea. We recommend it for a quiet holiday since there is only a store and a restaurant in the vicinity and there are no noisy cafés. Mljet's fascinating underwaters are ideal for divers, sports fishermen and sailing enthusiasts. If you like to take walks, there are many interesting places to go in Maranovici's surroundings.
We recommend: two-storey 18th century Baroque house belonging to the Pes family (with wine cellar, spacious hall, garden and terrace) / Sv. Antun parish church with Gothic elements / 15th century Gothic chalice in the parish church / ruins of Sv. Marija Gothic church above the village / surrounding places: Babino Polje, Prozura, Polace, Pomena and Govedari / bay of Saplunara- 5 km south of Maranovici - the most beautiful sandy bay on the island / bays of Blaca and Pinjevci
How to get there: from the ferry port Sobra: 10 km to the south on the island's road Sobra - Saplunara / from Polace: 40 km to the south on the island's road Polace - Sobra - Saplunara. |
