| | Kampor (island of Rab)
| | | | Kampor is a tourist destination on the south-western part of the Kvarner island of Rab, placed in Kamporski bay. The place is traditionally known for fruit-growing and has retained, more than other places on the island, the atmosphere of an authentic fishing village, where guests can taste homegrown vegetables and fruit as well as recently caught fish. If you would like to catch a glimpse of the authentic local atmosphere, spend quiet afternoons in the shadow of rich Mediterranean vegetation and stay away from the hustle and bustle of crowded tourist destinations and beaches, Kampor is the right place for you. For those looking for entertainment, the city of Rab and the Suha Punta tourist complex are only a few kilometers away.
We recommend: the 13th century Franciscan monastery in the Sv. Eufemija bay and its library and museum / collection of stone monuments with Roman inscriptions / ruins of a Roman acropolis on the Cape of Kastelina
How to get there: 6 km south-west of the Rab ferry port along the main island road / 20 km from the Lopar ferry port along the main island road towards the town of Rab
Did you know: the Dundo forest reserve, until WWII the most beautiful holm oak forest in the Mediterranean, is only a few kilometers south of Kampor on the Kalifront peninsula / some of the holm oak trees are more than 1 m in diameter and over 200 years old. |
