| | | Govedari is located in the interior of the island of Mljet, one of the most beautiful southern Dalmatian islands. The island is placed not far from Dubrovnik and can be reached by scheduled boat lines. Govedari lies above the bay of Veliko Jezero, 5 km from the sea and belongs to Mljet National Park. A local road leads from Govedari to Pomena where there is a hotel that offers various sporting activities. From Pomena, there are several scheduled boat lines for Polace and Veliko Jezero. Placed in the interior, Govedari has traditionally been known for agriculture, mainly wine and olive growing.
