| | Dobrinj (island of Krk) | | | | Dobrinj lies in the interior of the island of Krk, on its northeastern side and is the oldest settlement on the island that is connected to the mainland by Krcki Bridge near Kraljevica. It lies on a 200 m high hill, surrounded by fertile land and is one of 4 medieval citadels that used to be centers of literacy in the past. Dobrinj is a few kilometers away from the coast and coastal places Silo and Klimno. Dobrinj, first mentioned in 1100, has numerous interesting buildings and a rich treasury containing gold artifacts and church attire. Dobrinj, famous for its picturesque national costumes, is nowadays a living ethnographic place because many folklore manifestations, as well as 'sopela' courses (a Krk woodwind instrument similar to a clarinet) are held here. It is also known for its traditional cuisine.
We recommend: Sv. Stjepan church with Gothic and Baroque elements / Sv. Trojica Renaissance church / Romanesque churches / ethnographic collection / places nearby: Klimno, Vid Miholjice, Krk, Silo and Njivice
How to get there: 10 km south of Omisalj on the island's main road |
