Welcome to Cerovlje, a small place in the immediate vicinity of the Istrian town of Pazin, situated in the central part of the green, hilly Istrian peninsula. Cerovlje is known for its rich cultural heritage and is ideal for those who, while on holiday, are not only looking for sea and entertainment, but prefer peace and quiet, as well as authentic traditional places. While in Cerovlje, you can visit a Late Gothic church with frescoes and a 15th century altar, as well as a small, Romanesque church. There are many picturesque villages nearby, where the inhabitants still live traditionally and engage in old crafts. We also recommend Cerovlje to hunting enthusiasts due to the excellent hunting grounds in the Pazin region.
We recommend: Pazin - main city of central Istria / Sveti Petar u Sumi - old settlement with a Benedictine Monastery / Pazin cave - 130 m deep cave with chasm and numerous small lakes / Motovun - town in which the Motovun International Film Festival takes place every summer / old towns of Lindar, Beram, Kanfanar, Zminj and Dvigrad
How to get there: 8 km northeast of Pazin that lies at the crossing of the main road Rijeka-Pula and the local road towards Vodnjan and Labin
Did you know: that the plot of one of Jules Verne's novels ("Mathias Sandorf") takes place in Pazin and its surroundings, while the main characters save their own lives by escaping through the underground labyrinth of the Pazin cave. |
