5. HISTRIA FESTIVAL (July-August), Pula
Luciano Pavarotti will open this international musical-dramatic festival which is going to stage classical music concerts, chamber music and musical recitals, soloists concerts, operas, operettas, ballets, and plays, and Eros Ramazotti's is going to give a concert during the festival. Since Histria festival is also one of the leading ballets festivals in the region, it will stage Prokofjev's Romeo and Juliet by Boljšoj Theater. The events are going to take place in Medulin, Arena in Pula, and in a Small Roman Theater on one of the Brijuni Islands.

5. MOTOVUN FILM FESTIVAL, (02/08-06/08), Motovun
International Film Festival in Motovun is fully dedicated to the films made in smaller film industries and independent productions. The festival was founded in 1999 with the aim to make international contacts and exchange of ideas for the development and production of independent film in Croatia. The settings of the five-day (and night) festival are the streets and squares of the beautiful medieval small town, with open-air showings that are going to present about 80 films. Best films in each selection will be presented with an award. The festival is accompanied by many events and dynamic life on the town streets.

51. PULA FILM FESTIVAL (July),
Pula
The Pula Arena dating from the 1st century A.D. will host its 51st film festival during which it becomes one of the world's largest movie theaters (it can take up between 5000 and 8000 viewers). The Festival is comprised of two parts: Croatian feature film program which is of competitive character, and international program with 2 selections: documentary and feature film. Pula film festival was founded in 1954. In the year 2001 PULAFILMFESTIVAL becomes an international festival of Croatian and European film.

MNNC - MUSIC NIGHTS NOVIGRAD (end of July),
Novigrad
MNNC is one of the leading Mediterranean blues festivals founded in 1995 welcoming great names of blues from abroad as well as leading blues performs from Croatia.

ISTRAETNOJAZZ 2004, 08/07-11/07,
Pula i Svetvinčenat
International manifestation of ethno and jazz music; concerts of renowned musicians held in interesting venues of Pula and Svetvinčent. At this year's festival there will be performers from Portugal, Spain, France, US, and Croatia. The performers will mainly focus on Mediterranean music, guitar music, and dance.

FESTIVAL OF DANCE & NON-VERBAL THEATRE, 23/07-27/07, Svetvinčenat
International festival founded in 2000, which, besides dancers, gathers street performers, circus and similar stage artists. There will be open stage shows, dance workshops, pantomime, various performances, and painting workshops for mask making.

Grožnjan summer organizes meetings that promote music and culture continually since 1969. Courses, workshops and concerts, non-music projects (dance, architecture, journalism, ethnology...). Seminars and educative programs supervised by mentors and music teachers.

43. CONCERTS IN EUPHRASIANA BASILICA (July-September),
Poreč
Traditional summers music manifestation, founded in 1962 stages a series of classical music concerts in historic ambiance of Eufrasiana basilica (since 1997 Eufrasiana basilica is listed on the UNESCO's list of protected cultural heritage). Well known international and Croatian musicians will be performing sacral and profane music from all time periods.

PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION: ' AND IN LUBENICE, LUBENICE'
Art photographs by four authors will be exhibited from 09/07 to 10/09 on the streets and squares of medieval town of Lubenice in unconventional ways - on house facades, dry-walls, special stands or installations on the ground. Eighty unique photographs in large-formats will present Lubenice to its visitors in a yet unseen way.

15. LUBENICE MUSICAL EVENINGS, July, Lubenice

Classical music concerts held in very attractive venues of Lubenice town on the island of Cres; rich artistic program presents world and Croatian interpreters and authors. The concerts are always held on Fridays in St. Mary Church, and the opening and closing ceremony is staged on the square in front of the church.

CRES FAIR (CRESKI SEMENJ), August,
Cres
"Creski semenj" is a traditional manifestation, which lasts for a few days. Stands with indigenous products from Cres are put up on town squares and streets. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know old trades from the island. There are also concerts and a costumed party organized; jongleurs and various artists' performances to be seen. Sport events are organized during the day.

48. KRK SUMMER PERFORMANCES (16/07-27/08),

Krk summer program includes theater, plays, entertaining-musical program, concerts, exhibitions and operas. The manifestations are held in Frankopan citadel, Krk cathedral, Kamplin square, and the islet of Košljun.

Three-month festival of classical music that organizes concerts once a week in attractive town venues.

"RAPSKA FJERA" - THE DAYS OF THE MIDDLE AGES (July),
Rab
"Rapska fjera" or the "the days of the middle ages" is a traditional and authentically costumed manifestation during which the Old Town of Rab is transformed into a medieval town. Members of various associations, show the guests with the help of old crafts how people on the island were working, eating and celebrating in the Middle Ages.

KNIGHTS' GAMES OF RAB, (May/July/August),
Rab
Traditional knights' games of Rab with crossbow competition which, founded in 1995, has been continuously held in the memory of the first knight game that happened in 1364. Cross-bowers from Rab have been organizing their tournaments during religious holidays, town of Rab Day and similar events.

RAB SUMMER OF CULTURE 2004, (May - September),
Rab
Various entertaining and cultural events that contain a number of exhibitions in May, followed by concerts, brass music, folklore groups and singing groups (klape) performances. During June, July and August the program is additionally enriched so during Rab summer there are Musical Evenings of Rab, "Rapske ferje", and many performances by cross-bowers from Rab.

10. ZADAR SUMMER THEATRE (July-August),
Zadar
Summer theater festival features state of the art plays of various character and genre from the national theater. The performances are held in cultural-historical venues of Zadar (open as well as closed ones). The festival was founded in 1995.

44. MUSICAL EVENINGS IN ST. DONAT (July- August),
Zadar
International musical festival; takes place since 1960 in the St. Donat Church and other sacral venues of Zadar. The festival is composed of two cycles: Musica Antiqua (medieval, renaissance and baroque music) and Musica da Camera. Performers are renowned musicians from home and abroad.

50. SPLIT SUMMER (14/07-14/08), Split
International festival of opera, drama, dance and music in Split, a town of many cultural layers and rich cultural heritage; on the whole the festival takes place in ambient venues - historic core of the city and outside it - trying to unite the traditional and modern, inherited and actual, Croatian and European. The festival, beside its own production of HNK Split, welcomes numerous guests from the music, drama, and dance scene both from home and abroad; the best performances in music and drama is presented with a "Judita" award by the daily newspaper «Slobodna Dalmacija». Split summer is one of Croatia's oldest and most attractive summer festivals - it has been regularly held since the year 1954.

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF NEW FILM, 26/06-02/07,
Split
International festival of film, video and new media. During the festival there will be viewings of selected works, installations, internet projects, performances, retrospectives, workshops, round tables and similar events. The festival has been held since the year 1996 and is a member of the European coordination of film festivals.

KNIGHT PARTY FROM SINJ (SINJSKA ALKA), 06/08-08/08,
Traditional knightly competition of "alkars" from Sinj evokes the victory of people from Cetina region over Turks on 15th August 1715. Knight tournament is in fact a competition in which the participants must tilt an iron ring hanging on a rope 332 cm off the ground (so called "alka") while galloping on a horse.

38. OMIŠ FESTIVAL OF DALMATIAN VOCAL GROUP SINGING (KLAPA), 02/07-24/07, Omiš
National festival of "klapa" singing is all about preserving and promoting public songs and encouraging the writing and creation of new songs for vocal group singing. The festival is of competitive character, and the best singing groups are presented with awards. It was founded in 1967 and has been continuously held ever since.

43. HVAR SUMMER PERFORMANCES (21/06-13/10), Hvar
Hvar summer cultural manifestation is one of the oldest in Croatia: musical, theater and folklore programs are organized in picturesque ambiance of town Hvar, which welcomes artist from home and abroad. Hvar summer performances usually last for about 100 days.

Summer cultural artistic program in Stari Grad (island of Hvar) is focused on preserving the cultural heritage: exhibitions, lectures and scientific groups, musical program (classical music concerts, soloist concerts), dramatic program (actors performances and theater), and summer workshops (restoration workshops, ceramics workshop, architecture and design workshop).

MAKARSKA CULTURAL SUMMER (July-August), Makarska
Various cultural-entertaining program with open-air happenings, concerts of classical music, vocal singing, choirs and soloists, jazz evenings, exhibitions, and theater performances.

TROGIR CULTURAL SUMMER (August), Trogir
Many different happenings all throughout the summer: musical evenings (concerts of classical music and guest performances from home and abroad, chamber music), folklore review, theater-scenic events in authentic space of the Old Town centre, public festivities: fisherman's night, Town day, exhibitions of Croatian and foreign artist in the Modern Gallery.

55. DUBROVNIK SUMMER FESTIVAL (10/07-25/08), Dubrovnik
Largest and most representative cultural manifestation in Croatia: international musical-dramatic and dance festival situated in the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Festival stages about 80 theater, ballet, opera, and musical performances, literary work promotions, exhibitions, poetry evenings, off theater performances etc. Dubrovnik Summer Games were founded in 1950 and have been listed in the European Festivals Association (EFA) since 1956.

JULIAN RACHLIN AND FRIENDS FESTIVAL, 05/09-15/09,
Dubrovnik
Festival of chamber music in the beautiful ambience of the Atrium Knežev Dvor in Dubrovnik stages six concerts by world-renowned artists gathered around the violinist Julian Rachlin. The festival is taking place for the second time this year and along with Julian Rachlin will be performing violoncellist Mischa Maisky and Thomas Carroll, pianist Itamar Golan, violinist Yuri Bashmet, violinist Janine Jansen, clarinettist Ernst Ottensammer, the chamber group "Viennese virtuosos " and other well known musicians.

International multimedia festival - questions modern artistic aspirations in different fields: theater, modern dance, performance, music, new media, film and video; it especially tries to affirm independent projects and new modes of artistic initiatives. The festival was held in 1996 for the first time.

International festival of song and vine, traditionally held on a summer stage of town Korčula. Besides the entertaining program, guests may try original vines from Korčula.

Korčula                                        Traditional summer festival with a rich entertaining program that includes musical evenings (concerts of classical and pop music), theater program (guest theaters and stage ensembles), and dance program (folklore and dance ensembles). The programs also contain sport events and sail regattas on the sea around Korčula.

INTERNATIONAL KNIGHTHOOD GAMES FESTIVAL ON KORČULA (July- August),
Korčula
Festival of traditional sword dances from Korčula has been held since the year 1997 with the emphasis on preserving old dances and indigenous culture of the island of Korčula. In the middle age atmosphere and surroundings of squares and streets of  Korčula town as well as other places, the knight associations do the moreška, kumpanija and moštra, and there are guest performances by international associations and knight societies from other parts of Croatia.

BLATO SUMMER, July - August, Blato (island of Korčula)
Guests can see and hear indigenous songs, dances, national costumes and musical instruments from Korčula at this traditional summer manifestation. Besides performances by folklore ensembles concerts of classical music are held in the town's cathedral famous for its stone architecture and excellent acoustics.
